FAQs

Here are a few of our most frequently asked questions.
Flex can start helping you pay your rent as soon as your property posts your monthly rent bill in your rent portal. In order for Flex to pay your rent, you must complete your first payment or deposit with Flex. Once this step is completed, Flex will handle your rent payments in one of two ways: Direct Payment: Flex will pay your full rent amount directly to your property. Flex-Funded Payment Method: Flex will provide you with a Flex-funded payment method that you can use to manually submit your rent payment through your rent portal.
You have the flexibility to make changes to your payment schedule directly in the app. Just remember to reschedule at least 1 business day before the chosen date and ensure your account has a zero balance by 11:59 PM ET on the last day of the month to continue benefiting from Flex services in the coming months. If you turn autopay off and don’t pay rent through Flex, we will keep your Flex credit line open with the same monthly membership fee. If you cancel your Flex account, you’ll no longer pay a membership fee but you’ll have to re-apply to use Flex again in the future. To reschedule your 2nd payment, turn off autopay, or cancel your account, make sure you have the latest version of the Flex app to access these features.
We understand that rent amounts can vary each month, so Flex will adjust the amount of your payments to cover small fluctuations. However, if the rent amount posted by your property is significantly higher or lower than the estimated rent amount you provided during sign-up, Flex will ask you to confirm the rent amount that our system should process before submitting your rent payment
You must be 18 years of age or older and qualify for a Flex credit line, which we evaluate when you apply, based on your credit report information, payment history, and other factors. You also need to have a debit or credit card to make your payments to Flex. Please note that your rent portal must allow online payments via ACH or debit card, and not all properties qualify for all Flex services.
Rent reporting is an optional feature that is included in your Flexible Rent membership. When you pay your rent with Flex, we will automatically report your on-time rent payment to TransUnion – building your on-time payment history. Flex will never report anything but on-time payments to the credit bureau(s). More details on rent reporting here.

Once you successfully sign up for Flexible Rent, the app will show your account is active and you’ll receive a welcome email with specific instructions on how to prepare for your 1st month! We’ll notify you if you need to take any additional action.
